It’s Sunday, April 12th and we find it’s still winter on Easter Day. Yesterday afternoon and today we saw the temperatures finally rise above freezing. There is currently only one puddle – conveniently right at the front door – which freezes into a sheet of ice every night. There’s a hint of Spring now.

Almost every morning we hook up a dog team. This morning was gorgeous and we decided on a 12-dog mix and match team.

We are not the only mushers taking advantage of the late mushing conditions. The trails seem almost as packed as they were back in December. It’s great to see folks on the trail because we are not seeing many other people these days.

  • It is wonderful to see that you are getting out with your team so much. I bet the dogs think this is the BEST year ever. It looks like you have tons of talent there! I hope the snow continues to last. 😉
    Iditarod recap can wait,
you’ve got better things to do. <3

    Happy Easter SPK!

  • Cool you still have snow to take fun runs on…and with such a big Team too! We have had April’s where it has lingered on until mid to late April, but not this year…only piles of snow here and there….mud season is upon us! Enjoy those sled runs while they last!!

  • Oh, yes, A-Town’s correct!!! Don’t feel pressed – sharing a video of any doggie news is a real favor to those who only look out the window for most of the day now.

This particular so fabulous to see – on Easter Sunday – awesome team of twelve pulling against the brakes – WOOF WOOF WOOF!!!

Thank you ever so much for this – SP KENNEL is the very best, for sure.

  • Awesome! So glad the dogs are getting to enjoy pulling a sled a little bit longer this season. Love it!

I recorded the QrillPet Article World Series that was on CBS Sports network last week and I’ve watched two of the races, two more to go. You mentioned lots of mushing on the trails right now and it reminded me of the footage they had in the Femund race of dog teams passing each other. It was great to see, especially the aerial views. Sled dogs are awesome!

  • Great Video in April-Wow! Nice to see ya out and running in these quiet times!
    Happy Belated Easter!
