I sat down with Aliy to talk about her stellar champion Quest 200 team of Cayenne, Lydia, Chena, Mismo, QT, Five, Sanka, Jefe, McCaw, Perky and Decaf (and Scooby).

  • Great audio interview!!! Thanks to being reminded that this rerouted race actually took the team across Lake Lebarge, I was inspired as follows: With cold was so chill and wind so shrill with its wailing still we followed your race to the end…

    As the poem actually goes…

    There are strange things done in the midnight sun
    By the men who moil for gold;
    The Arctic trails have their secret tales
    That would make your blood run cold;
    The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
    But the queerest they ever did see
    Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
    I cremated Sam McGee…

    Thanks ever so much for the keen analysis of the Red Team performance the YQ200 – and wish Aliy the best in the upcoming Iditarod!!!

    WOOF!!!

  • Thank you Aliy and Moira, that was so much fun!
    Way too much talent at SPK this year to pick a 14 member team for Iditarod.

  • Great wrap-up! I like the way you enjoy the dogs and their funny antics. Dogs are fun! Many of the dogs that I considered youngsters are now growing up and doing their job. Fun to see it all happen. Hopefully you won’t have to worry about the coat zipper situation in the ID. Too funny! Go Red Team!

  • We really enjoyed the race wrap up! Much more personable with all the laughs and asides about each dogs personality and fun happenings along the trek! Love the story of Mismo and “his” couch…poor Tig! And yes….Perky and Decaf….LOTS of energy with those two if I recall on my last visit! Enjoy the last week of creature comforts Aliy!

  • Thank you for the audio wrap up! It is so interesting to hear about the doggie personalities and Aliy’s thoughts about them and about the race.
    Yes – enjoy the last week of comfort, Aliy. Good luck on last minute preparations for the upcoming Iditarod!

  • Ditto on laughing about Jefe and the interaction of the two when it was supposedly rest time. I enjoy hearing about the Coffee and Golden Harness litter. Sanka sounds like she is becoming quite the girl. QT, Dancer’s sister, sounds near perfect in the making – well, once a strong influence settled her down.
