The 36 hour clock has started. At 11.55am AK Time (12.55pm Yukon Time) Allen and his 14 mates arrived enthusiastically in to Dawson City in 4th position.

The team line up was Spark and Jefe in lead, Chipper and Dutch in swing, Commando and Amber, Rodney and Five, Bruno and Perky, Clyde and Scooby with Violet and Decaf in wheel. He’s mixing his lead dogs around a bit to liven up things for them. Jefe’s surprise promotion to lead dog in last month’s Copper Basin 300 obviously gave him a taste for it.

Allen said he had found the going slow due to fresh snow and headwinds but was pleased with how the team performed.

Thanks to the Pixie and team from YQ for live streaming their arrival! I managed to grab a few screen shots to share.

They arrived from the North and popped up onto Front Street to pass under the banner and officially check in. Aliy then took over the team (including Allen on the back of the sled) and mushed them back over the river to the camp spot. Bridgett drove over in the truck to greet them.

They will be occupied for a few hours tending to the dogs and Allen so we’ll be patient and wait to hear from them (that sentence was more for me than anyone else!)

More soon!

  • HA! Moira be patient. At the very end of the quest video, someone said “power couple” as Aliy and Allen went by! Truth there. And Aliy & Bridget have had a LOT of coffee?? The interview was great fun to watch. The dogs looked awesome and jumping in the harness to move on. That is such a credit to Allen and the care SPK gives their dogs. Brents dogs, no offense intended, but the dogs looked tired, no pep, tails between their legs, and just no enthusiasm. He’s had his big runs bite him in the butt before, I hope for the dogs’ sake, he’s not in it just to win it. Yeah SPK. Now rest gang. Rest well, eat well, and foot massages around!

  • WooHoo! They’re in Dawson! Aliy and Bridgett had a fun interview. Chipper is such a small, but mighty little dog at 32 lbs. I love seeing her run along with the bigger dogs. Thanks for the maps pointing out the route to the camp. Just one more visual to picture the Dawson scene. Yes, patience is the word now. Thanks for the update Moira!

  • Wonderful to see Jefe in lead again with Sparkie! I can see how it keeps them on there toes with
different mates to run with. I saw Allen go over the Top of the World and now into Dawson! Great
place and wonderful hotels but of course in the winter I doubt if they are all open. The main deal
now is getting the dogs massages, meals and sleep–Allen too. Least the dogs have Aliy and Bridgett
with whom they know. It amazes me how well behaved they are! Thanks Moira for all you have done
to keep us informed–you are the BEST!

  • I was stuck in a meeting all day without my phone😕….it was agonizing not seeing the tracker! So glad everyone is now all reunited in Dawson! Let the TLC begin!!!

  • You are so clever Moira, taking still shots from the live feed.
I felt so lucky the live feed was working and I got to see Aliy, Bridgette waiting, and the team arriving. The dogs were obviously excited to see Aly and Bridgette. Aliy was clearly happy to see Allen.
    🙂
Lots of rest to all the pups and Allen.
    Thank you Moira.
