Aliy and the dogs headed home on Thursday while Allen and Bridgett stayed behind in Whitehorse for the post-race festivities and meetings.

It is cold again, -37F in Two Rivers when the team arrived home so everyone had a straw lined kennel set up in the dog room. This room has a dog door out to an enclosed pen, also with straw lined houses, so they could choose where they slept, who they slept with and for how long.

By Friday they have started to get rowdy and full of energy and as soon as it warms up a little Aliy will get them back out on the trails to stretch out and keep their fitness up. There’s another race coming up so they want to be fit and ready to be in the running for that one.

  • A little more cozy rest, then rally the troops Commando!!! Sights on March 7th!! Perky’s already rested and ready to hit the trails. Maybe some laser therapy for Decaf’s bicep so he can take his caffeinated energy to Iditarod. Well done Black Team- loved following your journey!! Time to don those RED capes soon superdogs❣

  • Yay! So glad Aliy and team made it home safe. Cute pictures of the dogs. Such a hard decision to pick out the right house LOL. Glad they are rested and getting rowdy again. Thanks for this update.

  • Wow, long haul home by yourself! Well, and with the doggies. Here, I got the house cleaned, baked some muffins, and rested my finger and shoulder for the next round. It’s like I’m also on a rest schedule. Soon to stretch out and get my refresh finger ready.
Enjoy the festivities Allen & Bridget!

  • Great to hear of safe return of Red Team leader and her 4-legged athletes!!! Iditarod on the horizon, almost!!!

  • Glad the dogs are home and in their familiar spaces. Long ride for you Aliy! It’s called COFFEE!
    Thanks for the news!

  • I was laughing at Allen talking about the bikers who race the trail. My son-in-law is doing that race this year – CRAZY!

Melancholy hearing Allen’s announcement that it was his last race – brave to say it.

  • Glad Aliy and dogs made it home safely.

Allen’s last race!! If true sad.
    Get ready for Iditarod.
