  • Love the audio wrap up…I agree, MUCH easier than typing it out…hope Aliys fingers recover with some TLC for herself! What an adventure! I can picture Champ being upset his Team was leaving without him (poor buddy), and Sanka hitting her straw bed hard….good girl…they all did so well….we are all proud of them…and Aliy too!!! Well done Team!

  • Thank you for taking the time to review the race and give a run down on the individual athletes. Your dogs rock!!! Love it!

  • The audio recap was a great idea Moira! Thanks Aliy for taking the time to give us such special insight into your brutally challenging CB300 this year as well as all the special idiosyncracies of each dog. After listening I may have found a few “new favorites” of which to become a fan. COMMANDO’s my main man though! His “drive” and “self- motivation” that you speak of reminds me thoughtfully of another of your former acclaimed lead dogs. Great job Blue Steel! I wish I could have seen those cute proud ears coming into the finish. (Probably best not to tell Commando he was “cute”.) Sounds like Amber earns another “A”! So proud of Chevie too. Sounds like she picked up some valuable long race lessons to take with her going forward. Silly but talented Jefe– way to be the physical strength behind the team!! — and just maybe you found a new position where the scenery is always changing???? Looked mighty good crossing that finish line and sounded like there were some who were surprised to see you up front. You set them straight!! I can’t help but feel sorry for poor Champ. Darn the bad luck! Such a steady Rock Star too! Congrats to each and every member of the SPK Red Team on a well-run race! It’s been a great ride from my armchair in VA. Again, really appreciate the audio recording. Get some rest and quick healing to all who need it.

  • I love this! Thank you for taking the time to recap each dog. It’s so much fun to hear about each of their contributions to the team. So proud of this team!

Awww Champ……but I think the human team members were just as disappointed as you were that you needed to stay behind at that point in the race.

SP Kennel is awsome! Now onward to the YQ.

  • Beautiful recap. It sounds like all your teammates are doing great.
Hopefully your fingers and toes will heal quickly.
    Thank you!

  • Love this! Commando has been a leader from the get-go! I’ll never forget meeting you, Allen and Commando the year he hit the trail for Iditarod. “Can you believe it?” you exclaimed. Yes, he does have a look. Hearing about all the team was such a neat touch and learning about their talent and quirks. As for Decaf, I’m a bit biased in knowing he would be great! Saw it in his eyes as a puppy. Decaffeinated my butt! However, it is so cool to know that he is a cuddle bug as well. Thanks for the peek at the team. Great race. Heal those hands up!

  • Thanks for the Great Team wrap up! Hopefully everyone will be in wonderful shape
after a few rub downs and warmer temps in the shed. Treats?? Get Well Aliy!!!
Thanks to all the crew for there services in such cold temps. The race could not happen
    without the SP Crew–Your Special!

  • Commando does have a commanding presence. It was hard to overlook him when he was young, able to look straight into my eyes and see what’s what. Smart, smart fella.

I was really happy to hear about Chevie and Sanka (and their litter mates) as we held those babies when still young. I thought Sanka had something special then.

.. and Razz, I hope whatever got her goes away soon. She has spirit.

The wrap up was wonderful, really, very insightful, loving, and tender in a way writing it may not have conveyed. I am concerned about your hands – always grateful when you come home safe.

  • Thank you so much for the audio. I enjoyed hearing about each dog and your understanding of them. Congratulations to you and your team.
