It’s 12noon. Feeling: Inspired and exhilarated by Aliy’s bold race plan. What can I do differently today to emulate that?

Aliy has decided to take her eight hour Yukon River rest in Kaltag! That is the last possible place to see out this mandatory rest and fits with her “all shook up” race plan to gather that extra rest as late as possible, ready for the run up the coast.

  • Go Aliy!! I am cheering for you! Keep pressing toward the finish line and keep up the fast pace!
    Safe travels to Kaltag!

  • That is a pefect place to dry out for 8 hours! Sounds like Mother Nature will be playing the equilizer in this race…Aliy took the lead into Iditarod…as she serves out her 8 in Kaltag maybe the lead pack will pack down the trail for her! Fingers crossed!

  • Go Girl!!! Like the move! Energy late in the game could be a real advantage!
    Go Red Team!!

  • I am enjoying watching her make decisions on this race; it’s fun for us and IMO will provide some strong experience for future races with this team.

  • I was so relieved to watch Aliy and her team arrive in Kaltag. I guess even rolling in close to 10:30 pm, can’t keep the fans away. It looked like the vet checks went well. I’ll be curious to see how many dogs get to take the long trail to the coast after that unusually brutal trip on the Yukon River. Now it’s time for some rest SPK pups, and hopefully Aliy can dry out her gear. Get ready for an interesting trip to the coast. Sebastian reports DEEP snow, snow so deep he had to dig his snow machine out, and open water nearing Unalakleet.
