SPK’s GRAVY train jumped off the tracks. Poor little guy. He broke his hind leg while in the play pen with his mother. No one but Izzy was chaperoning at the time. She was a good momma and let everyone know that something was wrong ASAP.

We – once again – need to thank North Pole Vet Hospital for fitting us into their incredibly busy schedule. Dr Rouge was able to perform some orthopedic magic. Gravy will need 4 weeks recovery with no tug-o-war.

Our love/hate relationship with North Pole Vet Hospital has been very obvious this past week. Fingers and paws crossed that we will only need to be there three times for three different patients. The owners, Pat and Denali Lovely, run an incredible operation with knowledgeable and caring people. THANKS again.

  • Bummer! Poor Gravy! Outlaw sends his love and says those North Pole Vets are top notch….they fixed his front leg as good as new…..no worries little one…you are in good hands!

  • Hard liking this post but LOVING the vet care you folks receive. We are almost ready for another dog this coming year (had to let one go last December for spinal things that happen to Dachshunds) and one thing I feel so blessed about is that when it’s time for a puppy, we have an AWESOME vet. It is so important to know that and you know it how many dogs over?
    Heal up good little one.

  • Oh Gravy, you must take after your Aunt Wedgy. She’s accident prone, too. But we know you’ll heal up in no time and be ready to hop in there with the big dogs.

We’re so sorry about the hard week at SPK

  • Poor Gravy! That’s so sad that such a happy, playful dog was hurt. I hope he recovers quickly so he can play some more tug-of-war!
    Get Better Soon, Gravy!

  • It hurts SOOOOOO much when we see these little guys get hurt. We know that he will be highly pampered and totally spoiled by the end of 4 weeks. Get well soon Gravy.

  • Oh Boy, you have got to be kidding. Hopefully he will slow down and heal well. Thoughts
and Get Well Wishes to you Gravy! Have a chat with Perky!

  • Geez Louise Gravy! You had to go and break your leg to sneak into the house with Aliy and Allen? Maybe while you’re there Scout and Quito can whisper in your ear just what it takes to be exceptional. 😉
I’m hoping this is just a reflexion of your heart and mind demanding more than your body is ready for just YET.
Heal up buddy, so you can make Izzy and Scooter proud.
Aliy, there’s a “little” check in a packaged scheduled to arrive by Friday evening at your PO Box. I hope it makes the trips to North Pole Vet Hospital a little less painful. I’m praying they managed to get Gravy’s bones stabilized just right.

    • The package was delayed. It now says delayed without an anticipated arrival date. 🙁 I will keep checking and email when it arrives. I hope it isn’t lost.

  • I empathize completely …

I spent way more time at the vet with our litter of four than I would have ever thought possible. All are healthy, strong, and past the little blips along the way, but for a while there, I was wondering if I would have money left to feed them!

  • Poor little guy. I sure hope he heals well. Being young and healthy should be in his favor but I’ll be sending lots of healing energies up there to help him get back on four sound feet.
