As October rolls around, so does our official “Season Opening”. We’ve refreshed the website and today is also when we open our support programmes – and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for choosing us. It is perhaps an overused saying but it really does take a (rather large) village to enable us to do what we do, and everyone who supports us in any way is an integral part of our team. “Thank you” doesn’t seem like quite enough.

We have three different ways you can support us this season. You can join the Red Team, the Black Team or the Dog Fan Club! Please note the links at the top of the page.

Red Team and Black Team membership is open TODAY. Members will find their name under the Team tab at the top of the page and will receive the new season’s membership certificate, once again featuring images from Julien Schroder of arctic-mood.com. As a Red Team member you’ll also receive a cool ball-cap as a thank you for joining. Black Team members will get a handy and attractive SP Kennel notebook.

The Dog Fan Club is open as well. You can become a fan of your favourite dog, or dogs, and your name will feature on their individual athlete page. You also go in the draw to win fabulous prizes throughout the season – last year we gave away posters, race guides, race memorabilia and other topical prizes. Choose one dog or fifty, it’s up to you.

All our team and dog fan club members that join before March 1st will be sent a collectors postcard from Nome with the official ‘End of Iditarod Trail’ postmark.

Note: We are in the very lucky position that our dog sponsorship program is full and every dog has an individual sponsor. Many of our dog sponsors have been with us for the duration of their dog’s career and some before that! Our philosophy of each dog having only one sponsor (or sponsor family) means we now have a long waitlist of people wishing to sponsor an athlete. Thank you to all our dog sponsors and those patiently waiting on the list. We do appreciate you and consider you part of the SPK family!
