Despite the drizzle and a foggy lens, we were able to capture a few photos from the training runs this morning. The best three are:
- Mismo saying: “Do I have to do this all by myself?”
- Five is incredibly sweet and helpful while harnessing
- While Perky feels the need to wrestle Allen for the harness (note: Perky is also 100% successful thus far of tearing apart harnesses every hook up so far and running around lose… but at least he’s happy!)
We captured another interesting dog team phenomenon that fans might not think about: a 14 dog team mainline stretches a LONG way. When the team curves around a bend and especially a 90º turn in the trail, the musher can’t always see the lead dogs, much less a lot of the team.
Now you see them – now you don’t – there they are again!
And here are some individual shots:

- Barista and QT wait to depart while Perky got “Ape Crazy” behind them
Good to see my buddy Decaf on the line. Enjoy the fall training – mush on!!
Love the photos! So Perky is the crazy one huh? And Decaf’s face seems to have acquired some freckles…or mud splatter one.
Looks like a happy bunch of muddy pups!
I hope Perky learns quickly to harness his excitement into getting you where you want to go, especially up hilsl. Earn those harnesses back Perky!

Looks like more muddy FUN for everyone involved! I got to start working on my SPK dog ID for the upcoming season!
Those are great photos! My favorite picture is the one of Mismo on the line all by himself. He looks like he’s thinking that he’s going to have to pull it alone! It’s exciting that the season has begun! That looks like so much fun!
Love the pictures of the dogs. Perky is just saying let’s go! I am as excited as Perky about
the up coming season but hope he settles down in harness. Happiness is SPK!!
