Moose Crossing

While driving back to the Kennel from the blood tests & EKGs, I was merging onto the local highway and noticed that traffic was stopped in both directions. The reason was because these two moose were crossing the highway. Just another little slice of Alaskan Life!

Sun Dog Day!

It’s such a delight to have the sun showing up earlier in the day, going higher in the sky and setting later in the afternoon. Today, the sun treated us to our first “Sun Dog” of the year. From Wikipedia: “A sun dog or sundog (scientific name parhelion, plural parhelia, … Read More

Outtake: My Frosty Cabin

It was about midnight by the time we got back to the Kennel from the GinGin 200 Mile Sled Dog Race. We gave all the dogs another big, hot meal then tucked them into their cozy, straw filled doghouses for a good long sleep. Thus, it was in the wee … Read More

Night Tripping With Aliy

Aliy and I recently went on a training run later in the day than usual. As a result, we were on the trail long after the mid-afternoon sunset and well into the dark. I made a comment about how eerie it was to be cruising along in the dark, with … Read More
