I agree with Nessmuk, and considering the team’s times so far, it looks like an excellent move. I hope Aliy manages to stay out of the worst of the weather, and if not, I hope she enjoys every moment of the challenge.

Well, well, well. I am impressed. I kept thinking that she would only lose ground, having stayed in McGrath while other leaders moved through and took their 24 in Takotna since Ophir is not so far away from Takotna, but then the weather and the trail and Nic is taking his 24 there , and, and …. and she did it.
What guts!
Is anyone else still looking for Allen on the GPS and the standings? Sigh My finger just keeps scrolling. Miss ya out there Allen.
Dawn – The color of the back pack has definitely faded a bit in my eyes. Although he did give us two stellar races already, didn’t he?
Linda- most definitely!! Love his calm, cool, collected manner on the trail.
As I watch her progress to Iditarod, I keep thinking what guts she has. Impressed is probably not the right word – in awe is more like it.

Way to go Aliy, you picked good team, hope this roll of the dice works out. The folks taking their 24 hr rests now will gain back the time when you stop but with the weather it might slow them down some. Great race heading into the halfway point!

The times that have checked the tracker she has been running anywhere from 5.4 to 8.8 mph. If she’s breaking trail, as the Insider update video indicates, she’s doing well and moving along, currently less than 50 mikes from Iditarod. I wonder who is in lead breaking trail….Mismo, Dutch, Commando….or maybe some new rising SPK star. Insider folks said they were sending snow machines out to get video of Aliy so maybe we will have something soon.
