The crew is off to town to greet the team! We are so excited to see them and give each a hug and kiss. At this moment in time they are running in third position as Hans passed them before the road crossing of Chena Hot Springs Road.

We’ve watched on the tracker the team go past all our usual turn-around spots and they appear to have sailed through okay so now they embark on the final run on the river home.

As soon as they cross the line we will have some delicious snacks waiting for canines and human then we’ll get them to the truck asap to give the dogs a watery, meaty, nutritious meal and undress harnesses, booties and jackets. The vet crew will give them another exam then we will get them into their cozy straw lined boxes to sleep for the journey home. Once home they get to luxuriate in the dog barn for a week or so with indoor/outdoor living options, room service, massages and stretch out runs as part of the service.

It may take a while before I am back in a place I can update you so keep an eye on our Facebook and/or Instagram as I may be able to post directly there.

Thanks for watching along. We have felt your good wishes right from the start and appreciate knowing you are following along with us.

    WOOF!!!

  • Thank you for giving us constant updates and pictures throughout the race. I appreciate seeing pictures of the wild, free country in Alaska and Canada. I am so happy for the Black Team and how well they’ve done! I know the dogs will be glad to eat those snacks when they finish!
    Go Black Team!

  • Yes, Allen’s team certainly did make those turns near home at a great pace. Give that hard working team lots of hugs and kisses from all of us along with those massages, treats and meals. A nice long break is just 13 miles ahead pups. We’re so proud of the SPK Black team.
We’ll be watching for the team and all of you at the finish line on Yukon Quest – Official Site FB page. Woohoo!

    Thank you Moira!

  • I love the sound of the pampering they will be getting between now and hitting the road to Anchorage for the Iditarod. Gotta keep that team tip top to blow away the competition on that very tricky trail.

  • You’re going to need a 60’s saturday morning cartoon litter so I can sponsor “Underdog”. I’m not very good at picking the dogs who make it to the end and thinking perhaps it would be bad luck for you if I picked a third before the Iditarod! 🙂
Congratulations on an impressive YQ.. both of you and the crew! Woof Woof.
