At 9.26am this morning, Allen and his 13 team mates pulled in to Circle City checkpoint. They will rest here a while. Brent is only a few minutes behind with Hans and Michelle coming in fast so it is a tight race and still anyone’s. There is still a lot of trail and weather to get through.
The handler crew had an interesting drive also, spending the night on the Steese Highway due to snow conditions but they made it to Circle just in time to greet the team.
Bridgett gave us a call as soon as they arrived and said they look fantastic! She said they were barking when the pulled in and they all look really good – Champ was barking the most! Commando and Dutch were in lead with Junior and Chipper in swing. Immediately after they pulled in Allen snacked them and they all ate as much as he offered. Allen looks good, a bit tired (as you would expect) but good.
It is about +6F, sunny and gorgeous and the prettiest she’d ever seen it up in Circle.
Photos, videos and more details to follow.
Allen no doubt is enjoying this…competition at its best! Overnight on the road…..glad the temps were not too intolerable! Snow comes easy in “mild” temps. Cool you arrived to see the Team in! Dogs sound close to perfection….Birch Creek up next!
Hooray! Watching the tracker is good, but it doesn’t tell everything, so it’s good to hear they were still barking and eating. Way to go Champ. Keep the enthusiasm!
Thank goodness the handler crew knows to be prepared for weather and getting stuck. I saw the post on YQFB page yesterday that said there would be no snow plows until around 6am. I watched Allen’s trip into Circle, thankful he would be late enough Bridgett could be there to meet them.
+6F oh boy that is warm and changes things.
About 215 miles to go, rest up and stay healthy Black team.
You’re doing fantastic.
🙂
GO BLACK TEAM! GO SPK!
Go Champ – barking the most, of course, because he loves to run and loves to tell everyone about it. Woo-hoo! What a handsome boy.
I hope everyone gets some good rest at Circle City and all of the team will be raring to go when they leave.
Love all the pictures so far – Aliy’s pics from her run were absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you to all the SPK team for sharing this with us.
Great News! Glad they were there to meet the team! I was almost afraid it would get too warm but
hope the trail is good and the storm gone. Go Allen and Black Team Dogs!!!!
Glad the handler crew made to to Circle in time to greet Allen & team. Yes it is looking like a very tight & close race. I am glad Allen is in first, keep those noses in front all the way to Fairbanks. Go Allen & Black Team. GO SPK.
WOOF WOOF WOOF
GO BLACK TEAM!!!
