Aliy took several short videos during her nine days on the Iditarod trail. There are 20 in the series, many are quite short but we thought you would enjoy them over the next few weeks.
In this video the team is heading towards Rainy Pass.

Rainy Pass….such an iconic place on the Iditarod Trail! Looks like it was a nice sunny day for them…how gorgeous…what a brilliantly bright day! Good Dawgs (and Aliy!)
I am really enjoying the Aliy Cam video series.😀 I have never been on the Iditarod Trail, but by watching videos and seeing pictures, the Rainy Pass section of the trail is my favorite. It has beautiful scenery.
Hello Allen & Aliy, I waited until the season was over to send you a short note about the Vets’ Choice patch. The patch is smoke-tanned moose hide. The background is a sundog (those geometric patterns show up better in photos for some reason). There are 14 abalone disks, representing the 14 dogs in your team (both starting and finishing!). The beadline among the disks represents both the trail and the gangline. The image is based on a number of photos of Frank, taken over the years, and on the bronze statue he received for one of his Vet’s Choice awards. The ruff on the parka is beaver, and the mitt is also beaver (trimmed back). The tail is a feather (duck). And there is one porcupine quill (dog’s eye). The dog blanket is deer hide, and celebrates the dog blanket project that the sewing group did in 2017. I meant to give you a card with these details, then forgot, so here are the notes. All the best for next year!
Ooooooooooo……it’s coming…the dreaded descent. Amazing how you can hear the wind in the audio when Aliy turns the camera to the side.
Can’t wait for the ‘going down’ video, if there is one.
Thanks for this.
Love the video and the most fantastic scenery! What it must be like.
Thanks Aliy and SPK! Greatest dogs ever!
WOOF WOOF WOOF
The views are so vaste
WOOF WOOF WOOF
What brave adventurers these four legged athletes are – being on the sled behind them seems such a privilege.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
Love Anne’s post above about the Vet’s Choice award. I just saw a YQ Facebook post stating the final results of Hugh Neff’s dog Boppy that expired during the 2018 race. I won’t say much more other than, I love SPK. You all are awesome in the way to love and care for your dogs.
