Here are a few gorgeous shots from from Barbara. She went out to the Road Crossing five miles out of town to capture some images of team coming in, then was at the finish line to see them arrive. It was a beautiful night to come home to Nome.

  • What a gorgeous time to finish the Iditarod….wow….fantastic! Thanks for putting in the extra effort Barbara and capturing those shots outside of town! What gorgeous colors!

Those are some proud and happy dogs there under the Burled Arch…their Musher looks pretty proud and happy too!

  • You captured a magical moment with the Photobombed pic. Also if you zoom in on the top pic from outside of town it looks like Violet is turning for the camera. Too cute!! Enjoying all the SPK post from Virginia. Thanks.

  • Those are absolutely gorgeous pictures!! It was definitely the perfect time to finish the Iditarod!! Dutch and Chipper look so happy and proud in the last picture! Good doggies! 🐶😃😃

  • Great photos! The last one with Aliy, Dutch & Chipper is awesome! Love the photobomb too. Happy, fun dogs!

  • Barbara should go into photography. Wonderful pictures! Excellent of the team coming in!
    Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you for share Barbara’s awesome pictures.
The second pictures looks like they are working like a perfected machine, left, right, left, right, except Chipper who appears to be floating in the air like a Reindeer, and Clyde (or Five, sorry I can’t tell dad from son here) who is on the opposite foot.
Beautiful sunset. I love how so many of the dogs found Barbara’s camera to smile at arriving at the finish.
Dutch and Chipper taking their lead dog shot so seriously, lol. I love the photo bomb by Kodi and Mr. Muscle, Driver.
Adorable little fans out late to see Aliy in. I hope they see this pictures too.
    🙂

  • Thanks Barbara for taking these pictures and sharing. That is a beautiful sunset. No wonder Aliy said she stopped to take pictures. What a majestic way to come into Nome. Enjoyed the picture of Aliy and the leaders, even the photo bombers. Aliy’s dogs are always photogenic and Aliy’s smile is a show
stopper. She is always positive. Thanks Moira for posting these. You did an amazing job keeping us up to date on this race.

  • Aliy always has a smile on her face ansd nobody takes better care of the dog athletes than Aliy and Allen!

  • Margaret you echoed my thoughts -this 2-legged and these 4-leggeds are my champions. Look at those dogs! That team is one beautiful picture – after running hundreds of miles. I love the photo bombing – Driver looks either serious or inquisitive – ‘hey! what’s going on up there?!’ Barbara, thank you sooooo much for the great pics! So much work has gone into having a team this good – to finish looking this good. All of the work, the hours, the training, the care – it all pays off when you arrive in Nome. Way to go, SPK, for another successful racing season. Aliy’s smile is contagious. How can you NOT smile back? 🙂
