Aliy and Allen went to a pre Iditarod event last night hosted by ExxonMobil at the Hard Rock Cafe in Downtown Anchorage. The “one week out” party was a Salute to the Volunteers Veterinarians of the Iditarod. Jeff Schultz showed many amazing photographs of the Mushers, Dogs and Veterinarians along the trail.
The party was a fun, relaxing event – considering the week to come. Allen and Aliy were able to catch up with DeeDee and Mike Jonrowe, Dallas Seavey and Martin Buser, as well as many friends and supporters of the “Last Great Race”.
The evening was perfect until Martin and Aliy got in a bar brawl over a dog sled.
In the end, the two mushers resolved to settle the argument next week… on the Iditarod!
Excellent!
FUNNY!!!
Looks like Martin was smart enough not to arm wrestle her for the sled!
So funny! Glad to see you're in good spirits and enjoying the pre-week festivities. How do you focus on staying fit and strong during all the ? (serious question from an inquirng mind/fan).

They didn't arm wrestle for it? We know who would have won then!!
Looks like you are winning Aliy. Love the picture.
So glad you are having some fun before the big event! Makes me smile knowing you can all be friendly and competitive….that's one of the reasons I love this sport!!
Arm wrestle for it?
Oh nice. We know who will win that fight. Bring it on Iditarod…here we go!
LOL
I'm pretty sure Aliy and Martin both refused the arm wrestling match!!!
I love Martin. I'm wishing him and his dog team the best, somewhere close behind Aliy!
🙂
I hope DeeDee and Mike are doing well after a rough year. I'm wishing DeeDee a much more fun race than 2014, and another top 10 finish. Also, not too far behind Aliy.
🙂
I second that comment wholeheartedly! Aly, you're an inspiration. So is Martin but you've been my absolute favorite for years now to win the Iditarod. You and the dogs can do it!

Lauri, I think it was last year Aliy was in an arm wrestling contest in Nome and she accidentally broke her competitor's arm. Ali was devastated she did that.

Ditto to all who made suggestions re: finishing order.
WOOF!!!
awesome. I am hoping you will win this race because your last few races you have came close to winning, GOOD LUCK
Oh wow! I'm so excited to watch you race ali. I really believe this year is the year. I'll be supporting you from okemos. Maybe you can get a new speed record with a win eh?

All of you – go out whole & finish whole… Doggers, mushers, crew & all the great supporters and families.
WOW!
I hope Martin can run the race without too much worrying about Nikolai's injuries. Rohn already dropped out. What a tragic accident. We are all behind the Buser family, also, hoping for the best. Good for Martin if he can enjoy some 'away from the hospital' time. The Buser family deserves a diversion as well as our prayers. Tragedy doesn't discriminate. It affects all of us, even when we least suspect it.
Yes – OF COURSE Aliy would have won if it was arm wrestling. But good for her she didn't BRAG about that incident. Class. SP Kennel has CLASS. Another reason to root for them. I am already suffering from anxiety …. go, SP Kennel, go! Aliy – if nothing else please know that we will all be behind you and cheering every single mile….hoping that you and the dogs can enjoy the race while doing your very best. 110%. I can't wait. The SP dogs are the best. Let's see how they stack up against Dallas's 'best team I've ever had.' I'm secretly hoping SP blows him away but have a safe, healthy and happy team when you finish and you are champions, period, as you have always been.
