On February 11, 2013 Allen, Quito, Scout, Beemer, Olivia, I.V., Scooter, Chica, Scruggs, Puppet, Nacho, Willie, Waylon, Tatfish and Biscuit became the 2013 Yukon Quest Champions.
They completed the race in 8 days, 18 hours, 39 minutes.
In this Wind Back Wednesday we relive their achievements and follow their journey from Whitehorse to Fairbanks in this video.
My favourite part is when we first caught sight of Allen’s headlight on the Chena River as the team came home. What’s yours?

And, in this post Allen gives a wrap-up of his Champion team.
Definitely a terrific way to remember that event!!! Thanks ever so much!!!
I've always liked the authentic Alaska Yukon Quest better than Iditarod – and not just because SP Kennel's married mushers are Yr 2000 (first and only female to come in…first), Allen, Yrs 2013 & 2014 champ.
Lovely, memories, catches me up on some now retired 4-legged champs, as well.
Thanks a million (OMG the sun is even out today in CT)!
I loves me those dogs. I loves me those videos, I loves me those SPK peeps, all of you. Thank you.
Great Video! Thanks for sharing with us SPK Lovers!
Great group of dogs! These are precious memories of the
Black Team and SP Kennel!
Great memories for sure! The video was great…what an awesome looking Dog Team!! That Quest was certainly special….for me too since it was the first one I really started watching as intently as the Iditarod. Now I can't get enough of the Quest!! My favourite part of the video was of Quito being honoured with her Golden Harness…I even teared up a little at that point!! Dog Power Rocks!!
Ditto on the Golden Harness award to Quito
Seeing Puppet in the team made me cry .. our last SPK dog on the line (for now) and she was a sweetie. Being there as they came i was a very special evening, for sure.

Yes, I agree, my favorite part was Quito getting the golden Harness. Loved the video. Thanks for the flash back of memories.
Nice Wind Back!
I enjoyed seeing Puppet Dawg leaping and diggin' in to get that sled a movin!
And, I know I shouldn't…, but
I enjoyed seeing Scooter get a ride in the sled.
Heck, even a Super Dawg, like Chica needs a little extra TLC once in a while.
So Scooter got hers 🙂
All together, what a fantastic team of champions! Woop woop!
Quito's smile at the end is so great! I have hardly seen her grin like that, with her golden harness on. That was my favorite part…and seeing all the doggies in harness. No offense, people!
