Are you missing the snow and cool winter temperatures? Craving the view from the back of a dog sled? Well, sit back, relax and enjoy today’s Flash Back Friday as it takes us back to the middle of winter in January 2012.
As Aliy said: “Our training runs are always exciting.
Some of the trails that we travel on are fit predominately for dog teams (and a few hardy cross country skiers.) As you will see in this video, the narrow winding trail would be difficult for a snow machine or any other motorized vehicle to maneuver.
You will notice, with a team of 14 sled dogs, it is challenging to see the entire string. But, with Beemer and Scruggs up front, and Dingle and Pud in swing, the team was confident we would get where we needed to go. As we wind through the forest, you can see the leaders already turning around the next bend!
I watched this footage in regular speed, then fast and then slow. I thought it was pretty neat at all speeds….. so, enjoy!”
Great footage! I'm always amazed how far ahead the lead dog is from the musher when running these bigger teams! Add in trees and curves and what a ride!! Nice to see some of the past retirees in the footage too!

absolutely glorious
I'm not sure why I loved this video as much as I did –watched it twice in succession! Perhaps, it was the absolutely pristine Alaskan scenery or, maybe, the muted sound of the dogs' feet as they worked perfectly together as a team along this trail. I know mushing is hard work –and I know so little about it–but what I wouldn't give for five minutes in a sled being driven by these dogs.

Yay!!! Love the snow and even more I loved seeing the dogs running in the snow…..and it was very refreshing. It has been hot & muggy in my neck of the woods so the video was very timely. Aliy sounded like a chipmunk in the high speed video, HA! Thanks for the Flash Back.

That was amazing! Even at "real time", I was thinking "arms in!" but in fast speed, oh my! What a thrill ride!!
This reminds me of why I wished I had migrated north when younger and stronger. And I appreciated for the reminder of when Puppet was on the line.
