Worried about the trail? Concerned at the snow conditions yesterday in Anchorage? DON’T PANIC!
While we were down in Anchorage it snowed 6-8 inches in Two Rivers; we drove through a winter storm on the Parks Highway (dodging snow drifts, snow ploughs and temporarily abandoned trucks that didn’t quite make it through the worst of it), and the temperatures in the Fairbanks / Nenana / Manley area are forecast to get to 10 to 20F below on Monday night. And, as I write this it is snowing even more!
Ernie is excited about some fresh snow; Rambler slept in the dog barn while we were in Anchorage – this is his house today
It’s still winter in the north!
We’re excited about the fresh snow and the cooler temperatures. Our dogs know how to run in that!
Awesome news for mushers and dogs alike. GO SP KENNEL!!!
I'm so glad you all made it safely!! We traveled that today (Sunday) and it was bad…..even with studded snow tires on the SUV and an experienced driver at the wheel!! But we saw some amazing sights…a moose, lots of mountains…gorgeous views, and then treacherous ice packed roads and for the last 25 miles white out conditions. But in the end we are here! Ernie has it right….let it SNOW!!
SWEET!
Go SPK, dig into that SNOOOOOW.
Woohoo!!!
SPK all the way!
YES! Good Luck Aliy and Allen and all your fabulous 32 athletes. Cheering your on from Virginia. We'll be glued to our electronic devices tracking the race.
So glad you all made it back safe and sound!!! And also that you and the dogs got to sleep in your own beds and familiar soroundings before the great race ahead!!!
Best of luck to the best two mushers is the world, Aliy and Allen, and to the best athletes in the world, the Red and Black Teams!!! ❤️❤️🐾🐾
Just finished watching the 2014 video of Red Team race ("my download" took a while to figure out).
I believe they made a mistake – said it was her "second" second place when it was her THIRD in a row – the last words on the video…
Oh, well, never mind, it was AWESOME and further convinced me that SP Kennel is the one to keep close to our heart.

Thanks so much for the adorable picture of Ernie. Let it snow, snow, snow. Yes, I am glad you all made it home safely. Colder temps are better to mush in. Go SPK.
