9 days, 4 hours, 44 minutes, 25 seconds!

Congratulations to Aliy, Scout, Quito, Nacho, Scruggs, Scooter, Willie, Chica, Mac, Mismo, Waylon, Izzy, Schmoe and Clyde; plus Sissy, Nelson and Outlaw back in Anchorage.

A big crowd came out to see the team cross the line and the familiar “Aliy, Aliy, Aliy” can be heard. I didn’t catch the audio of her interview either, sorry. I think something that wasn’t meant to be unplugged, got unplugged.

Enjoy the video, particularly the part when the team is ready to be driven down to the dog lot. Have they really just run 1000 miles?

  • Aliy Aliy Aliy ! Congratulations to Aliy and the Red team Quinto Scout ,Waylon Nacho, Scruggs ,Scooter ,Willie Chica , Mac, Mismo ,Izzy, Schome ,Clyde ,Sissy ,Nelson and Outaw . That fact that l have spent the last 9 days following the trail and more importantly following the Red and the Black teams from all the way from Melbourne , Australia, shows how much impact Aliy has on the race . The Sp family is wonderful and you all deserve the praise you get Happy Trails to you all . Woof Woof , Cheers from Denali the Golden Retriever ( who wants to be a sled dog 😄) and Joanne . Ps now I have to get back to watching the tracker for the Black Team !

  • I could watch this video a thousand times! Thanks for posting it! Dogs were so peppy & happy and showered with such love from all the SPK crew. It's always a pleasure to cheer for the Red Team. Of course I'm cheering for Allen all the way to Nome too.

  • I'm very happy to see that Quito was in lead for the final leg. I've been a big fan of hers for years now and it's sad to think that she may be retiring. I hope that she (and her siblings) have a long and happy retirement!

  • Thanks again for making it feel like we were right there at the finish line. I will never tire of watching the dogs run. They looke so happy and proud as well they should be.

    Aliy is so gracious to the very end and the pups look ready to run another 1,000 miles!!! Goes to show the great care she gave them during the race!!!

  • Absolutely so proud of you Aliy, the pups as well as your team! Thanks so much for this video, Moira if you filmed it or whoever did film it. Always a good thing to do when there are other technical difficulties out of your control we were able to see behind the scenes so to speak. So nice to see the reception and how much energy you still have after this long race. AND, that beaming happy smile that captures!

    Excited to see more of you after a good rest and what you encountered along the route.

  • Thanks for the great video showing Aily and all of the dogs in Nome.

    I've been closely watching the entire race and want to congratulate Aily on giving it her all and leaving nothing on the table. The hail Mary in Shak didn't work out, but sometimes using a high risk/high reward tactic is the right thing to do. Way to keep things exciting!

    Here's a big woo hoo to Scout for being in lead. I hope Quito didn't pester him too much with back seat driving advice. 🙂

  • Thank you sooo very much for posting this video. I echo what others have said: what a class act! Just watching as Aily went around the fence–speaking to children, fans and friends — demonstrated how gracious and thoughtful she is.

    I was also so glad to see Quito in the lead as they came in. I definitely believe that Aliy wanted him to "experience the lead" at what might very well be his last Iditarod.

    Again, a big thank you to all of you at SP Kennel for your magnificent coverage. Now, I'll wait for Allen to come down the chute in Nome!

  • TO THOSE WHO MAY HAVE MADE THIS MISTAKE:

    "Quito" (as in the capital of Equador…and that is a whole other story) is really Poquita, very much a lady and mother of the Latino Litter and the Golf Litter (Biscuit the Dad).

  • What a class act you are Aliy, Taking time for your fans when you are so tired shows how much you care for your fan's. The dogs sure looked great coming in!
