All 14 Red Team athletes are on the move and left Elim at 10.31am after resting 4 hours, 21 minutes. They are now heading for Golovin then onto White Mountain. At White Mountain all teams have a mandatory eight hour rest before the final 77 miles to Nome.
“This is one of the more interesting legs on the race, with quite a variety of trail and terrain in a very short distance” according to Donald Bowers Jnr so it will be nice for them to see some different scenery. It should perk the dogs up to see different vistas out in front of them.
Allen and the Black Team are on the move again towards Unalakleet and are currently about 20 miles from the checkpoint.
So very exciting!!!
Can't remember when I've been more captivated by an athletic event!!!
Thanks so much for this special "coverage" ("Woof").

Wouldn't it be cool if Aily comes in fifth place and Five wins the fan club draw this week? 🙂
Haha-great call!
Woohoo it was just tracker trouble. Aliy happily running up hills.
Aliy and Dogs, great team and great race! We all continue to pull for you, blowing conditions surely take it out of you!! Glad you stick to your plan and make it about the dogs. Keep up the great work, can't wait till we see you under the arches!
Best, Trish McAleer
Great running, Aliy and team!!
This fan club household believes Aliy is the winner no matter what the standings say. She has a marvelous attitude and her dog team comes first and foremost – as it does with Allen and the entire SPKennel team. The entire team at home and on the trail are WINNERS!

I hear the trail conditions are improving! Enjoy the ride Aliy with your Superstars…especially Quito, Nacho and Chica….Darn awesome dogs….each and every one of them!
Best of luck Aliy and canine athletes!!!
We love you no matter what and we can't wait to see you and your amazing dogs cross the Burled Arch happy and healthy!!!
Aliy always puts the dogs first. There have been some tuff conditions over this last stretch. I always say all who complete the race are winners and of course that applies here. There is a lot of luck too; just how things work. Very proud and still rooting for RED TEAM! Love the tremendous three of course! And Mismo and all the others
I think the trails are improving. I just refreshed. The tracker (for about the 1000th time today) and Aliy is at 6.4 mph. Run your race Aily. We are with you in spirit.
Oh, she's at 8.4 mph now. Run dogs Run!!!
Nice pic from Sebastian in
"Uneventful run from Elim, almost! Not for everybody"
Go Aliy go!!! ❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾
Wind, snow, rain, or shine, Aliy all the way!!!!
No matter what, SP Kennel's Red team will finish with smiles on their faces, human and dogs!! Why? Because they know they ran a great race and stuck to a plan bringing everyone to the finish happy and healthy!
Still hollering at the tracker and cheering on a fantastic, strong, focused, and hardworking team!!
Best to all,
Heidi
Extra good wishes for the final ten miles into White Mountain – got my rally cap at the ready!!!
Woof, woof, woof!!!

Margaret
Dittos to above comments. Keep running your race, Aliy. Putting the dogs first is what attracks so many fans to SPK. Thanks.
I wonder why Aliy didn't go with Jessie.
(Something just happened – my prior message went away so I hope I am not repeating myself, if so please delete the prior!)
