Woohoo! Aliy and the Red Team have arrived into Koyuk and are currently sitting in third position, less than three hours behind the leaders. Remember folks, there’s a bit of racing left to go! There is roughly 170 miles until Nome.
Seeing the video of her team coming in, she has Quito up front in single lead. She’s switching leaders around depending on what’s going on and Quito and Scout have been sharing the duties lately. Bruce Lee explained that the reason they are travelling at a lower speed than earlier in the race is there has been new snow and it hasn’t “set up” yet. He likened it to running through loose sand. All the front teams will be experiencing the same conditions.
We can’t tell how long she will rest the team in Koyuk but it will be whatever she feels the team needs.
In the meantime, the Black Team pulled into Kaltag at 1.08pm, making the run over from Nulato in 4 hours, 52 minutes. Once rested, they leave the Yukon River and head over the portage towards to coast and Unalakleet checkpoint.
Woohoo! Time for a well deserved rest for the Red Team!!!
Great job, both Red and Black Teams!
The tracker shows she just caught up or passed Aaron! Go Aliy Go!!! So proud of your fighting spirit…be safe and be sure you and the team are still having fun!
So exciting!!! Go Aliy and your incredible athletes ★★★
You can count on Aliy racing her own strategy and all according to her dogs needs. She is doing fantastic!! Never been prouder to be an SP Kennel fan and supporter!!
I sure am longing for a picture of the Black Team though…I miss seeing them so much! But I bet Allen is enjoying the less hectic pace and some quiet away from the media.
Just watched both of the recent insider videos of Aliy. She has such a great attitude despite the slow speed and the soft snow. Rest well pups and Aliy. Go black team!
Both teams are doing great! Go Aliy! Go Allen! Go Dogs! It's getting more exciting by the minute.

About the II video titled Zirkle Walks Into Koyuk.
Plus, the dogs look super. They have their heads up and smiles on their faces despite the difficult trail they just finished.
go catch Mitch Aliy, and then Aaron. Go Red team.
Thank you so much always for this cheerfull, accurate and exciting updates!! Just 9 min's ago Aliy does as I told my sweetheart :"this is what I would do …" 1 h ago : and here it is : let j. Break trail a bit. Great. Now this will be the 4th year that I 'll be glued to the tracker, whispering to each dog, making grimaces at the dark gloomy ocean "Nög"(water ghost) and walking beside Aliy in my heart…. Courage!
You do great! Go on, just a little more. Stay warm and smiling. It is not half as bad!!! Hey, remember?, " don't let success get to your head ; don't let loss get to your heart" ; just continue and listen to your dogs as you've been doing so extraordinary well all those years, with all of your beeing. That's it ! Love to the red team.
