Yep, we can see what you can see. It appears (according to the tracker – disclaimer alert!) that Jeff King has stopped and Aliy is less than one mile behind him.
What we do know: the weather is bad. There is a big ground storm right in that area and it is blowing hard. Visibility to limited. Also, if Jeff is in any kind of trouble Aliy WILL help.
Other than that we don’t know what to say! Your guess is as good as ours. We just hope everyone is safe. Stay tuned…
Yeah…..I hit refresh and she is like right behind him….It's 2:30 am here…time for some coffee….making it a strong one -double espresso…..I don't want to miss a moment here! Go Aliy go!!!
It's official – not sleeping tonight!
Where'd ya put those antacids that Aliy was chewing during the YQ??? Sleep is now 100% of the table – not that I really considered anything besides being glued to the tracker anyway. Go Red Team!!!!
Oh man!!!!!! Best finish ever!!@
!!!!!!!!
Wow – i only have the video insider so appreciate you posting the tracker updates. Have to stay awake now!
he should have made it to safety by now. It aint over till the first doggie crosses under the Burled ARCH in Nome!
Go Aliy!
padee
Ahead, and still pushing on.
Aliy 2014 Superb!!!!!
GO GET IT ALIY
Quito & Aliy are not going to accept 2nd again! Holy crap! And, I might just have a stoke! I can't imagine what you are all thinking right about now!
KEEP RIGHT ON GOING TO WHERE YOU & THOSE AWESOME DOGGIES BELONG!
We're gonna have to watch that on on the GPS replay a few times, but…
after she gets to NOME.
Armchair musher said Jeff's tracker "pinged" and that he may not be stopped. Still looks to me that Aliy caught up and is now in the lead. So glad I made the decision for a late afternoon triple shot latte. Go Aliy! Safe travels for you and the doggies.
I'm anxious to see the Safety Checkpoint stats. I might be even more glued to the current standings page than the tracker right now. Unbelievable!!!! Go Aliy!!!
It's 11:44 here in California. I watched when she got close and was feet ahead, she slowed and now has leaped ahead!!!!!!! She's WINING!!!!! Long night ahead but only 23 miles more!
Thank you for the screenshot! I was nearly pacing! Now I guess, I really am! Go Aliy!
It's showing she's ahead now! Go Aily! Could this be a tracker glitch, or some kind of rest strategy that King has going for a finishing spint? It's making my stomach hurt…
Shazaam this is amazing!!!
My eyes are popping out of their head.
He he, it would be funny if she headed to Nome and didn't know she was in the lead, like into Unalakleet.
I guess they'll tell her in Safety if she couldn't see Jeff through the blizzard.
You are a champion with a heart of gold. You got this! On pins and needles waiting for you to win this race.
Oh!, my gosh!! So exciting Go Aliy Zirkle. You and your Team are awesome!
I so hope the GPS tracker is right. Aliy Zirkle, I will be your fan no matter what happens tonight, but I seriously may cry right now thinking about you, Quito, and the rest of team SP Kennel pushing through this weather to make it to Nome.
