As the teams wait out their eight hour stop we have been busy preparing for their arrival.

We picked up the kennels from Northern Air Cargo (NAC) and started to set up the Nome dog yard. We’ve laid them out and got the kibble and bowls on hand. We’ll add straw to their kennels shortly before they arrive and make sure everything is perfect.

Next was a stop to the grocery store for supplies. Two dozen steaks now sit in the refrigerator waiting to be devoured at the finish line!

Bridgett and Ryne have taken snow machines out to White Mountain and will be able to check-in with Aliy before the team leaves. The rest of the crew arrive in Nome around 8pm so will be here in plenty of time.

At 3.59pm it’s all on! Until then we just wait…

  • Aliy's going to eat a dozen raw steaks at the finish line? Just kidding, I know the steaks are for the dogs, but it's a funny picture nonetheless.

  • Steak at the finish line, I love it! I am on pine n'needles waiting for the finish. Am so hoping it is Aliy first to Nome. What a finish this will be. Go Aliy & team travel swiftly & be safe.

  • Yummy looking treats for a team that has run a magnificent race.

Alaska Dispatch has an article that tells a little about Aliy's trip to White Mountain.
It's amazing she made it there as quickly as she did!
She had a few mishaps, including Quito breaking loose and taking off after Jeff's team at about 20 miles per hour?
Aliy always says Quito does this for Quito. I guess we're lucky Quito isn't already in Nome!

  • Go Aliy Go!!!! Go Dogs Go!!!!….I think Quito was getting the team fired up and letting Jeff King know that she was not happy with him…

Thanks to the entire SP Kennel Crew and Family for your wonderful updates, analysis, and photos…It has been quite a race so far.

Cheering Aily and team on from VA
