Congratulations Aliy! – What an awesome race, what an exciting finish.Yukon Quest winner and second in the Iditarod! What a racing season for SP Kennel!
I'm waiting in Nome as well, in spirit, for Aliy and the Red Team to be the ones to cross the finish line in First Place!!!!
A great race by all the mushers. Those who made it to the end are my winners as those that scratched at the start. DEE DEE you are still a winner to me.
What a roller coaster ride this was!! We love you Aliy….we love your dogs, we love your sprit and dedication to this sport….WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD of you and your Team!!
Congratulations!!!! What a run!!! Give all the Dogs a BIG hug!!!! and don't forget the Steaks…
WOOHOO Aliy and the RED Team Rock!
SPK top two, third year in a row.
It has always bothered me some that press and fans take so much time from the mushers when they are busy or need rest in a checkpoint. Even Sebastian on the Yukon last year (don't get me wrong, I love his coverage and pictures!). How could they not understand that it is a race, and that Aliy especially hasn't had time to sleep? In White Mountain, I believe it was Jeff that suffered Aliy's typical fate of being the center of attention. We can see what it did for him. Aliy is so amazing that she can handle all that attention and sleep deprivation and still hold it together as well as she does. Dallas was rarely the center of attention this year, and I believe it gave him an advantage.
Anyway, I was a little upset with all of them, until I realized…
Aliy doesn't let me sleep for days either.
In fact, I'm pretty sure the mandatory layovers were invented for fans and kennel families.
With that said…
Congratulations Aliy!
I'm going to BED!
So I'll have energy to check in on Allen and the Black Team later.
Aliy hold your head high, your a champ and the best of the best. I am so impressed how you put the dogs health and well being over it all. That shows great character and what an outstanding women you are. Proud of you! You are an example for all for times to come. Welcome to Nome Champ! Ron in AZ ragodfrey@yahoo.com
