We weren’t inside the finish chute when Aliy and her team came up Front Street but we stormed the gate once we knew they were close!
It’s not much but here are some snippets; it will give you an idea of the reception she received and the hubbub in the chute.
What an awesome reception! Aliy you & the team rock.
Thanks so much!!!
She is so loved by her fans! She seems like a great person; always a smile and a kind word to give.
I love the look on the dogs' faces… "where's my steak?"
If ever there was any doubt that you are a favorite of the fans… let this reception be your notification that as long as you are on the trail, thousands are on the trail with you. As you said in the interview —- 2nd is better than scratching this year. Look forward, plan and do it again. You are an inspiration to many. Including me. Deka
FANTASTIC, SO PROUD OF YOU ALIY AND THE DOGS !!!!!! That one fan has a very high voice as she is cheering Aliy'S name over and over, Wow what a crowd.
hugs Maureen, from Comox
Wow this is a great view of all the fans cheering on Aliy.
First, last or somewhere in between. Aliy and her dogs have captured the hearts of Iditarod fans everywhere.
Thanks for posting this.
It was a chaotic scene for sure!! I'm just so proud of her and the Team…they gave it their all and that's what it's all about!
Love Aliy, love Quito and Waylon and all the team. Great race.

I think I watched too many soap operas in my younger days, because I kind of want to see a video of Aliy being snappy with cameraperson/interviewer in Safety (she apologized to the person in her press conference). Thanks for all the many updates, SP Kennel Team!! I come multiple times a day to see what's new, and there's always some great content!!
I can’t get enough of this footage of Aliy at the finish line. What an incredible race! I am new to the sport and have only been following SP Kennels for about 2 years.
Both Aliy and Allen are truly incredible people with a passion unsurpassed. I love following them throughout the year and look forward to an opportunity to visit in the future.
Along with our son, we have raised 2 daughters, and what Aliy has accomplished is truly remarkable and such a great role model for young girls. It is one thing to tell your kids what you “can” do, but is another when you are able to show the efforts of a girl who “IS” doing it.
And that interview in the meeting room after the race – OMG! The composure, sincerity and humor were beyond touching. It may have very well been one of the best post-game interviews EVER – in any sport, any time.
A huge thank you for such a class act!!
Go Red Team! Go Black Team!
The true Champs Aliy and the Red Team! Everyone's favorite and loved by all. This is very heart warming and emotionally touching! Thank You. Ron in AZ ragodfrey@yahoo.com
Aliy, you and your team did an excellent job! It was such a close race and quite an upset at the end, but you are an amazing athlete, a formidable competitor and a real class act. Get some much deserved rest!
I just wish I was there instead of here in Maine! We are now getting the storm that you mushed through—not quite as bad though. So proud of you and your doggies! So thankful Quito and the team saw you to Safety and Nome! Amazing 4 legged friends!
Congrats to you!!!
What a wonderful reception! What a nice smile on Aliy's face, and the dogs looked so great and like, 'what's all the fuss about?, all we did was a 1000 mile run''
Congratulations again!!!!!☀️🌠🐾
The darling of the trail!!!
Ditto to everything above.
Awesomeness personified!!!
Woof, woof, woof!!!
Thank you, Aily, for the inspiration you provide to young women–and young men–everywhere! Your run was an amazing ending to International Women's Day. It's an honor to hold you up as a role model here in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains…many miles from Nome but very close in heartbeats. Rest! Rest! We'll be with you again next year! Congratulation on an incredible race!!
You are AWESOME Aliy! What an inspiration you are for people of all ages who have a dream. I feel privileged to have met you on several occasions – know your Mom, Dan and sister. And who could leave out your wonderful husband and kennel partner Allen! He is also AWESOME! The four legged athletes are incredible too! We love yoy.

In my eyes you are the Dale Earnhardt Jr of the Iditarod. I have such a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for you! You are one of the best athletic role models I have seen. You truly do it for the love of the dogs and sport. Not fame and fortune. That is what I consider a true athlete. (plus you are dang great at it) I only hope that one day my daughter grows up to have the grit, strength, integrity, endurance and heart to be what I see you as!
