We have just picked up SCOUT from the Millennium Hotel where he was flown from Skwentna earlier this afternoon. We are very sorry to see him but happy that he is safe and well.
Scout is okay; he tweaked a tricep just before Skwentna checkpoint and he is still a little sore. The trail is hard and fast and, knowing Scout, he will have been trying so hard that he perhaps just overdid it a little and pulled a muscle – we probably all know what that feels like. He should recover just fine with some rest, massage and love – all of which he will get in abundance here!
Aliy will be so disappointed. He’s such a superstar and has had an outstanding season. He is a Yukon Quest, Copper Basin and Two Rivers Solstice champion this season and he really is one of the very best dogs. To lose him so early will be gut wrenching for her. Aliy will always put the well being of her dogs first so it was obviously the right call for Scout to be left behind.
Thanks for your patience as we confirmed this information. We could have speculated from photos but prefer to be absolutely certain, if possible, before we let you know.
Great job this season Scout. Good luck to both teams!!!
We love your puppy guts, Scout! Rest up Buddy…and GO ALIY!!!

SPK: Thanks for getting us the answerand this news – I know Scout is a stoic and would have kept running 'til he really hurt himself.
So glad Aliy protected him from having a more serious problem!

Atta good dog,Scout!
Really appreciate your effforts on this matter. Best to Scout!
Scout did a great job getting Aliy and the Red Team started. We know he is clearly a super star after the YQ1000!
His teammates are keeping up the awesome work. It looks like Aliy left Rohn about an hour and a half ahead of last year's pace.
Aliy is about to make this "her race" and everyone will be looking at her.
She and her team are so amazing, I hope when she is sleep deprived, she can continue to make the superb choices she is clearly making now.
Woohoo, SPK Awesome!!!
Thank you for posting this. Scout may not want too much attention but we have been thinking about him all day. You are so good to keep us all in close.
Good job, awesome Scout! You worked hard, so just relax and rest up now while Mama brings home the gold!!!! Go, go, go Aliy and team!!!
Thanks Scout for helping get Aly as far as you did, you are a true champion! Meghan please give him one more hug! Scout will still be on the championship team when Aly wins!
The Anchorage Daily News website has Allen having dropped a dog out of Rohn.
Am so glad Scout is back home in SPK capable, loving, massaging care. Great job Scout, you did a fabulous job this year.
