While I was over at the dog camp I asked Aliy and Dr Mike Davis about the reasons for the stretch out, massage and foot ointment they were giving each dog.
Aliy was working on Boondocks and Dr Mike was walking Scout.

Amazing care and attention for the team…we respect that!!
Thanks so much for the inside view of the life of a 4-legged athlete running a long distance race such as YQ1000!
Thanks for the post. Aliy & Dr. Mike are really preparing the dogs for the rest of the rest.
Go Allen & Black Team
Remind us of who Dr. Mike is.
Top notch winter dog "spa"…nicely done SPK!
Boondocks is thinking,
This feels sooooo nice! We're not home yet, if I run more tomorrow maybe they'll rub me down again 🙂
Did you notice that Aliy is working with liquid on the dogs using her bare hands at -30 degrees?… Yikes!
Dr. Mike Davis is a physiology researcher at Oklahoma State University… He is a very good friend of SPK and often uses the dogs in his various research studies… He also regularly serves as a trail vet during the YQ and Iditarod races… If you search the DogLog for "Mike Davis" (in the upper left hand search box) you'll find a number of posts about his involvement with SPK… He's a great guy to have on your team!
All I can say is YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
Very lucky pups to be so well taken care of!
Go Black Team!!!!
Dr. Mike you look a little cold 😉 What a great asset to the SP team you are!
