Aliy and the Red Team are through the Safety checkpoint and racing toward the finish line in Nome. They’re still trying to chase down the leaders with only 22 miles to go.
Meanwhile, the entire SP Kennel support team is at the finish line, preparing for the team’s arrival. This includes setting up individual, straw-filled crates for each of the dogs, heaping up piles of snacks and kibble, organizing liniment and all of the comforts the dogs well and fully deserve! This photo just came in from Moira:
Whatever happens, you can be sure that Aliy will have spent every ounce of energy she has on the trail. As soon as the finish line ceremony is complete, she will take time to congratulate and thank each dog, then hand them over to the crew for all the pampering a dog could dream of!
The Red Team is giving it their all, and regardless of the outcome, I, along with all of my 5th graders are proud of the team's accomplishments! Looking forward to more blog entries and thank you for all of your hard work keeping everyone updated 🙂
