I have a question, is the SP Kennel crew allowed to fly into some of the checkpoints to help or support Aliy and Allen in any way? (Just like in the Quest). I know nobody can touch or feed or assist directly with the dogs.
But what about helping the musher?
@LourdesVT, It's permitted to fly out and see the mushers at the checkpoint, but only to offer moral support and encouragement. Mickey and Doug, Aliy's parents, often try to make it to a checkpoint sometime during the race. This year they are heading to Rainy Pass if the weather is good. Sometimes it's when the musher takes their 24 hour layover, or in Safety/White Mt. which is accessible by snow machine if you go from Nome.
