Two days after winning the Yukon Quest, Allen and the team, and a few 300 milers, went for an easy five mile run around the local trails. This gave the dogs a chance to stretch out after taking a couple of days off.
It’s important to keep the dogs moving, even just a little bit, until they are ready to step it up again for that next big race that’s coming soon…
The two teams in these pics are: with Allen – Quito, Ranger, Scruggs, Scout, Chica, Nacho, Tatfish and Biscuit and with Moira – Beemer, Honda, Puppet, Olivia, Boris and Willie. I.V. and Scooter went on a ten mile run with Meghan later.
I just got excited thinking – "Oh! Puppet's in swing!", but then I realized there were only six on the team.
Along the lines of how many angels can dance on a pin head ..In a six dog team is the second line swing or team?
This bottom picture is outstanding.
Champions indeed!
Thanks so much for this insight into the life of a champion sled dog – true professionals!!!
Woof! Woof! Woof!
I can't help but think that this year's competitors in the Iditarod are asking themselves —– 'What can we do to beat SPK?'
Allen and the Black Team – You rocked the YQ this year! You ran your race and came through in the end. How cool is that?
Aliy and the Red team – You have the Iditarod ahead of you. Perform to your best ability and believe that it can happen. Positive thoughts go a long way to achieving the end result. (Or shall I say, I'll be pulling for you all the way!)
At any rate, Any way you look at it, SPK has Super Powerful Kanines!
Congrat's to Allen and the Black team.
