Aliy and the SPK Red Team crossed the line in the Yukon Quest 300 in second position by a mere EIGHT SECONDS!
We are all so incredibly proud of her and her 12 supreme athletes – what a race! Congratulations to Michelle Phillips and her Tagish Lake Kennel team, thanks for making it so exciting.
Aliy, Rambler (right), Viper, Dingle, Boondocks, Chemo, Ranger, Mac, Boris, Moxie, Tug, Bonita and Fang – take a bow! And a salmon snack!
Congrats also to Meghan for handling for the team, you contributed directly to their success!
More just as soon as we can; there some difficulties with cell phone communications so we might have to rely on other sources for our updates for just a little bit – we’ll do our best to get some pictures and reaction to you quickly.
Now! Everyone! Go get some sleep, we’ve still got a long way to go and we need you all on top of your game!
8 seconds!!!!… I can already hear Allen telling Aliy: "Now you know how I feel!"… Aliy's goal for next year's YQ300: "Make up 8 seconds!"
What a close finish!! Hard to call this second place for Aliy and her wonderful dog team. Congratulations!! More exciting days ahead for SPKennel.
You bet, Mac. I want to hear the stories.
Here's a photo of Aliy at the finish line.
Aliy and pups, best congratulations. Also, kudos for Meghan!!!
Here's one story of the race. I didn't know about the ski pole rule.

Great race Aliy!
What an exciting finish! Aliy looked very determined in the photo on the YQ Facebook site. I'm always proud to be an SPK fan, and I think she did a fantastic job. It sounds like she enjoyed herself, but I'm sure a competitive part of her wished for a win.
Maybe one small request? Allen doesn't need to try to best the 8 second finish record – he should concede that Aliy broke his record and not try to reclaim it.
Thanks for keeping the updates to the DogLog rolling in when a million other things are going on.
