Third in the 2012 series is a video starting at the top of Rainy Pass and ending five miles from the Rohn Checkpoint. It’s a wild ride by dog sled. Hope you enjoy!
There a few scenes in this episode that show how challenging it truly was for Aliy to hold the camera, drive the sled and video.
Wow!! Another great video. I can better see how the dogs can hurt themselves running a course like that. You think straight run but when I see a terrain like that I hold my breath!!
These are amazing videos, Aliy! Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to record and post them!! Looking forward to the trail notes when you get a chance. I know they take awhile to put together!!
Aliy- Your videos continue to be so instructional! The ride-along on the trail is fantastic & your commentary & encouragement of the dogs says volumes about your experience. It's amazing that you were making these vidoes while also running such a competitive race. Thank you hardly seems sufficient!
breakfast every morning has become a ritual of munching cereal while watching an incredible gal giving a marvelous breakdown of a trail, while balancing a camera and carrying on a one-sided conversation with an champion team of dogs! Life doesn't get much better than that! Thanks for the ride(s) of our life! You have given us a wonderful year of racing! The kennel "rocks".
Awesome! Thanks so much for this! I love your videos, Aliy and admire your calm nature even in challenging circumstances!
That was a white knuckle ride just watching the video!.. Wow!… Crazy!
Ohh my. That was fun. I was ducking and leaning along with you!
Mil Gracias SP Kennel doggies and Aliy
Thanks, Aliy, for delaying "Mushing season withdrawals". I had thought you were a bit busy trying to win the race to have time to video. But I should have known you are the epitome of a multitasker. Thanks for sharing the excitement!
Louise and Stella
These videos are amazing – there are no words that can adequately express my appreciation for the time an effort you devote to keeping your followers in the know. Thank you so much and it is impressive!
What a fun ride for us sitting at home! I always wondered what the Dalzell Gorge looked like from the musher perspective. Wheeeee!
Once again a nice ride Aliy. I love your videos and my kids often remark about you hold on to the sled at the same time. Duct tape sometimes does the trick I know!
Were you apologizing to the dogs or to your audience when you said, "I am so sorry."? I cannot imagine trying to do this for fans when you have to keep your hands on the sled!
Thank you for posting these videos! Wow it's mesmerizing! I'm holding my breath watching it. You and your dogs are truly remarkable 🙂 I hope to one day see the Iditarod /Alaska /the dogs and you Aliy in person. thank you again for sharing!
Wow, Aliy, what a video. I can see how important lead dogs are. Thank you so much. I watch your videos over and over during your races.
Incredible. Thanks. Your voice is so gentle and calming while encouraging caution. Ryne and all the rookies must have their hearts in their throats the whole way. What a ride.
This is exciting!!! And knowing how close you came to winning the Iditarod this year, it is unbelievable (except as a follower of SP Red Team thru the years I know how amazing you are)that we get this personal experience of world-class racing RIGHT HERE ONLINE!!!
Very special. I cherish sharing with SP these things which I:
1. would never be able to do myself
2. are still going on in 2012 when so many other things give so little satisfaction!!!
I am carrying around good feelings after watching this.
Love how you commented on the "upcoming" trail and know all the corners. I can see how rookies would often have wrecks!!!
