Ray Crowe has flown into Nome and seen Aliy out of the plane window. He texted us that she was double ski-poling and about 5 miles apart from both Dallas and Raymey. This means she is still giving it all she has got. After passing through Safety she knows how far ahead Dallas is but not how far behind Raymey is. She is double ski-poling incase Dallas makes a big mistake that she can capitalize on and also to ensure that Raymey does not catch her.

The whole crew is here at Bridgett and Scotty’s house in Nome except for Wendy who arrives in a few hours. The floor here is way to small for all the pacing that is going on!

  • Growing up in the south I never heard much about the Iditarod. I came across an article last week and after finding Aliy and this blog I am hooked! I have not only enjoyed learning about the race, but have also enjoyed learning about the dogs and their personalities. It is very apparent that they are truly a part of your family. Thanks to you all who have been updating the blog. I am now a true fan!

    My dogs and I are cheering you on and look forward to watching you cross the finish line tonight!

  • My congratulations to SP Kennel, Aliy and Allen, for two spectacular finishes in the two top races of 2012. You are both first place with us, your fans! They do not come any better than you and your pups!

  • This is Krista,Allen's future niece in law, I have been dreaming of the Iditarod and glued to their website since the first day. I am so nervous and can't wait to see how it finishes!! She is doing such a great job!!!

    For the Chattanooga poster…the Iditarod is indeed a proud race with proud participants and followers. The more you find out about the quality of (almost) all the mushers, the more excited you will become. Sounds like you'll want to take a trip to Alaska next year to see the start of the race! Maybe even to meet Aliy! The Iditarod is more than just a race. It is a showcase for character and those qualities we all value. Hopefully, you can get some young people interested in it. There is much to show them even between races.

    You have finished the race of your lives. At no time should you feel less than pleased with your efforts.
    I truely believe that you are Champions in the best ways.

  • My six-year old son and four-year old daughter and I, here in Los Angeles, have been glued to the computer screen for the past 9 days! But today especially!!!! We are h-u-g-e fans of Aliy!!!! Goooooooooo Aliy!!!! You are such an inspiration. And the friendliness and sweetness of your personality showed up in all the videos along the checkpoints. What a fabulous person you must be. We are your fans!

  • Congratulations from Northern California! What a race!! Sure wish I was going to be in the "hot drink/mess" tent in ANWR later this month to hear all the tales from the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod….2nd place both!!! Melissa is going to have a blast!!

  • awesome job to everyone involved.I know a lot of work went into providing all the details on top of everything else that needed to be done. In the lower states we don't get much news so we rely on generous people like you guys to share the word. In turn, I do my best to pass the enthusiasm on to my elementary kiddos. so many of them have never even heard of the Iditarod. What a race everyone delivered. Super job!

    Amazing and it felt good, really, good to watch.

  • Congratulations Aliy!! You and your team are the best!! On doing research re Alaska, found the Iditarod started in a couple weeks, researched the race and found you – a female musher, born in New Hampshire (I lived there a couple yrs – loved it), you were raised in MO – I live in Okla. I said well hey gotta 'root' for her – she was almost my next door neighbor! Man oh man, I did not expect the ride of my life you were going to give me!! I have never been so engaged in anything like this race before, cheering you on. I don't know you personally, but on watching you, seeing your videos, interviews, I love you and your dogs. What inspiring, courageous, determined, strong athletes you all are. I am in awe of what you endured, of your spirit and love for each other. THANK YOU, thank you for the incredibly memorable race you ran – well done!!!

  • Couldn't sleep last night until Aliy came into Nome. Hoss nodded off about 11:30 PM (EST). I could imagine what he was thinking, and dreaming, by the way his legs were moving…."Been there, done that." We were all glued to the GPS. Now where is everyone going to fit at Scott & Bridgett's place? (ha, ha)
