  • Thanks for the continuous posts and updates Kaz! The SPK dogs are indeed gorgeous and a few are sporting the fashionable anti-chicken-leg warmers!

If you get a chance, could you tell us what (if any) adjustment takes place due to the crossing over of a time zone?

Also, and don't answer if it gives away any strategy, but the January Howler said that the handlers would wait for the finish of the YK300 before trucking up to Dawson City to prepare for Allen's 36-hour rest. Due to how fast Allen is racing along (GO DOGS!) won't at least some of your handlers have to leave Pelly sooner than the YK300 ends to make sure they're there in advance of Allen? Maybe it doesn't take as long to drive from Pelly to Dawson as I'm imagining it would on winter roads…

Is there a YK300 finish banquet that Aliy & Ryne are supposed to attend and which would affect departure time?

Wow long post from me! Not trying to give you a bunch of extra work so no worries if you don't answer. I'm super appreciative of all the updates on the Dog Log that you've done so far, thanks so much.

  • I was just wondering about the time change myself. I was always on the trail before and it didn't matter. I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything! On the note of the dogs and mushers, it doesn't matter. They are on race time or dog time as it were. They run the race to the dogs ability not to any external clock.

As to the 300 banquet and Dawson, one of the trucks will leave as soon as Allen checks out of Pelly. The plan is for Aliy and Ray to head out shortly after she finishes. I am not sure that will happen though, depends on when the banquet is. The final truck will wait for Ryne to finish and then head to Dawson. We will have to see if that is how it really works out. The run to Dawson from Pelly is 210 miles so it will take Allen some time even if he and the dogs are "flying".

  • Wow, beautiful photo’s of a strong team. It's good to see the live tracking of Allen is working again and he is in Mc.Cabe (0.05 Alaska Time / 9.05 CET). Neff and Gatt are faster but take more resting time. I hope that Allen can hold this pas, they still have a long way to go. Let's see if the handlers are ambitious as I think they are, so we receive an update
    from Mc.Cabe.

  • Dogs look AMAZING! Oh, and dad, you look great as well:) Thank you YQ for keeping all the photo's up to date!
