OK….. here they are! The Magnificent Seven……
These guys are the pride and the future of SP.
Many SP Kennel fans will remember the “Mystery Pups” of last year: Boris, Raffie and Mac.
And, the other, foursome: Spoog, Schmoe, Sissy and Scooter.
Their training is right on target. As you can see they are not running with “the big dogs” yet. We use two responsible leaders and then hook up the The Magnificent Seven in team behind. At this point, we are using necklines periodically. This helps keep the “general flow” of the team in the correct direction (This is especially necessary when we pass a serious minded Iditarod team and the kids want to play, turn around and follow them.)
It never ceases to amaze me how fast puppies grow!! Nice to see them all again.
They passed a serious-minded Quest team pretty well… 😉
That's only because Team Tsuga are pros!

I decided to take a look at Team Tsuga to see who they are.
On their website, there is a picture of a puppy, and it's name is Zirkle…..is there a story there for us????
I actually don't know the entire story about "Zirkle" the sled dog from Team Tsuga. I believe that she was born about the time I won the Yukon Quest. Sadly, I do not think that she is their best working dog… but she is often seen riding shotgun in the front seat of Team Tsuga's dog truck.
Mike and Sue Ellis moved to Two Rivers in 2009 and are serious contenders in the Yukon Quest as well as many mid distance races.
Doesn't matter if Zirkle is not their best working dog Aily, you need to take it as a real compliment that she carries your name! It is a honor being paid to you for YOUR success! Good for you !
Team Tsuga is also a great team to watch and great team to support. Mike and Sue are some of the nicest people and like the folks at SP Kennel, dogs are family and treated with respect, love, and great care.
