Bob Hallinen from the adn.com took a picture of Aliy in front of cliffs outside of the Ruby checkpoint and 2 pictures of Aliy feeding her dog team, then Aliy heading out onto the Yukon River after leaving the Ruby CP (see pictures, Iditarod: Day 7)
Right now I'm seeing Aliy in 9th (my figuring) counting mand 8's out of Galena, DSeavey doesn't have his or not reported? and Willowmitzer behind her?
They are great pics! I see how the bond between the mushers and these dogs are so great…they spend alot of quality, quiet time together!
Yes-excellent pictures! I really wish the Insider had more videos of entering and exiting checkpoints. I can only imagine what the dogs are doing and I really want to SEE them instead! I know that Aliy, Allen and all of the dogs are giving it their best though!
Can't wait to hear all about it when they get home!
Mac, Just noticed that your video of Aliy finishing last year's race is on the Nome website under Iditarod Sled Dog Race. How did this come about?
KB — Please include a link and I'll see if I can figure out your question.
Nome video — Well, my guess is that they wanted a video of a Nome finish, just happened to find mine on YouTube and embedded it… That's how it goes on the "free" internet… Obviously, I had no idea about it…
Odd, though, is that the audio didn't play for me… Don't know if that's peculiar to my setup or if they somehow "block" it… Did the audio play for you?
I love the video! I can hear all the audio…
Okay!… I've got the audio this time… I didn't think they could block YouTube audio… Brings back very vivid memories of last year's finish, obviously… It was a hard finish for Aliy… Hopefully this year will be better!
