In our last episode of “Aliy Cam” — before the start/finish diversion — Aliy and the dogs were on their way into Unalakleet after pushing through a ground blizzard.
In this episode, we join the Team leaving Unalakleet in another ground blizzard, working its way down the frozen river to the coast. The sun sets over the ocean, then we transition to sunrise after leaving Shaktoolik and heading toward the frozen Norton Sound.
That video was absolutely beautiful, but also kind of scary to someone not used to frozen rivers and long, open expanses. The sunset took my breath away. And always there are the dogs, doing what they do so well. I love watching them.
Thank you Aliy. As many years as I've followed the race, I've still had some unanswered questions. Your videos have opened the door on many things. I've visited Alaska and have admired the stark beauty which abounds there. Your videos bring it home again.
Aliy you look so frosty! Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking such good video (and thanks Mac for sorting through and posting it!). Your passion for running dogs is so inspiring.
I have been following the Iditarod Insider videos, but they pale in what you have to offer with your videos. When I first started watching the Iditarod, I followed Don Bower's website, it was amazing AND educational. Aliy, you and Allen and your team of amazing supporters make this race dog gone human! Thank you
