So Aliy mentioned in the video that some of Moonpie's siblings will be running this year, but I have noticed on several of the dog cards names of siblings that I don't recognize. I'm assuming some of those dogs have found other careers.
Can you tell us a bit more about how decisions are made as to which dogs will become racing dogs and which won't? It makes sense to me that some dogs might just not be suited for that life, for reasons of either physical ability or temperament. How old are they usually when those decisions are made, and what factors go into them? Do most SP Kennel puppies end up as racing dogs, or is it fairly common for them not to?
And for those that don't, am I right in assuming they have more or less the same options as retired dogs? Go to a recreational or less competitive kennel, become a pet dog, etc.?
he IS a big, gorgeous boy.
