A reporter and cameraman from KTUU Channel 2 TV in Anchorage came by the Kennel yesterday to interview Aliy for a special that will be aired the week before the Iditarod in March. They started with almost an hour of Q&A inside the house, dealing mainly with Aliy’s history, racing experiences and general views on the sport of sled dog racing. I was able to record much of the audio from across the room, and will try to edit and post some of it for you soon
The news crew also joined Aliy for a brief tour of the dog yard, where the hounds were quite keen to be on camera. They offered up some pretty good howls and did their best to merit special attention.

Hey Mac! Thank goodness you don't have to lug around one of those TV cameras to shot your SP Kennel videos! Looks like they have to weigh a few pounds! Keep up the good work with your video setup! What are you using to shot your videos? Dave in NC
I'm glad I don't have to lug that stuff around too! I use about 6 different cameras: Main ones are a Canon S2IS that I've used for years now, and a newer version of it called the Canon SX1… Truth is I think I like the old one better… Maybe just used to it… Then Aliy uses one of my old "pocket" cameras, a Canon A540 and I use a newer version of it called the A1000IS… Again, I think the old one is just as good… Certainly more sturdy as you can tell by its survival out on the trail… Also use an Olympus 1030SW for "at risk" shots like having the dogs run over it… And am trying a new GoPro Hero Sport Action camera that so far is a piece of junk… Short answer: I use Canon all-in-ones… Great for web photos and videos… Definitely NOT "serious" photo gear!

My first digital camera was the Canon S2IS, then the Canon A630, then the Canon A720IS, next on the list before Canon does away with pocket size cameras with viewfinders is the A2000IS now on sale at Walmart for $129.00. I love them all! I have lots of Super 8mm home movies made on a Canon 810XL back when I was stationed in Alaska from 1976-81 with the USAF at Elmendorf AFB. By the way that is a great truck/camper combo you have! Dave in NC
