Allen and Aliy are flying down to Anchorage today to start their pre-race activities, so we gathered at the Kennel last night for a little “Bon Iditarod” dinner. Afterward, we kicked around the idea of recording something to share with all of you.
Aliy said she didn’t really know what she and Allen should say, so Mickey — her mom — suggested that we could just ask them some questions. Kind of like an impromptu press conference.
So, I fired up my camera and off we went. I think you will find the result very informative and quite entertaining. Bon Appetite!
For those of you who can’t watch the video, I’ve ripped the audio into mp3 format:
If you are having trouble with the embedded mp3 player, you can click here to access the mp3 file directly and play it however your computer normally handles mp3 files.
That was a lot of fun to hear down here in Florida. One of these years, I’ll get to the Iditarod instead of just following it online.
I’ve really appreciated all the info on the blog this year. I wish you both all the best of luck on the race!
Good luck Aliy and Allen

Time to say “God speed” on the trail… just the right temperature… perfect trail conditions… staying healthy (both two and four footed team)… Look forward to reports along the way… Will be with you in spirit along the checkpoints… ready to toast your arrival in Nome! Good luck!
I won’t be in Nome to greet you when you arrive this year, but I’ll be with you in spirit. It was great seeing you and the dogs the end of February at the kennel. Your website is awesome! Please know that my prayers are with you both and of course the dogs. Have a wonderful race and bring everyone home safe.
