The Nome Dog Lot is a wonderful place to be. There are many dog teams resting peacefully and mushers and handlers wander through feeding, massaging and tending to the teams. The fantastic volunteers there keep an eye on everyone, replacing blankets that might have come askew and giving ear scratches when required.

  • I don't know how you could love any one of these athetes more than any other. They are such a fine team and family. So good to see Aily looking rested and happy. As always, thanks for sharing the behind-the-scenes updates!

  • Oh it is so nice to see all the red team chilling out in the dog lot with all their buddies. Ah and being a gardener DENALI and I loved the nice touch with the red and yellow roses from Aliy. Don't forget to show the black team photos at the end I am sure they will be very keen for some posing for the camera 😃 . Cheers from Melbourne ,Australia.

  • OMG, that is so awesome. I got a little teary eyed. It makes my heart so happy to see the devotion given to the dogs by their musher. Not much else to say about that❤️💚💙💛

  • Aliy, Thanks for coming out to the arches and giving us such a SURPRISE visit when you did the photo shoot with the pups. So great that you turned around and gave us a wave, and whoosh flying kiss. We were waving back!!

    Love the smile and happiness!

  • How beautiful, and now it is teary eye time again!!!

The pictures say it all – it is love of the 4-legged team members, gorgeous dogs all, and their magnificent 2-legged musher – icing on the cake.

    And Izzy is soooo cute!!!

  • Thank You Aliy for providing us all a look into your world. I appreciate your vigorous competitiveness, never give up attitude and your gracious demeanor. You are, as the announcer at the finish line always says, a fan favorite, and a champion.

  • Thank you so much for this post!!! The love between Aliy and her pups is so beautiful and pure!!! Happy to see Aliy looking so rested and happy. And, what can I say about those beautiful, honest dogs??? They are so sweet and loyal and loving!!! I love each and everyone of them!!! Queen Quito continues to elicit huge admiration!!!

  • Love the Izzy picture!! Actually they are all so sweet!! Glad to see them all relaxing and soaking in the sunshine and stopping to smell the roses!!

  • Thanks for the wonderful pictures. Oh Schmoe…..just want to give him some love.

  • It's been a tough day and pictures of this wonderful team is very up lifting. Thank you! I hope Aliy's frostbitten throat is healing!

  • I'm glad someone else mentioned being teary eyed. Geez, I get so emotional when Aliy and Allen and team come across the line. Seeing the admiration of the musher to dog and vice versa. It really speaks to the heart.
    Thanks for the pictures!

  • Love these pics! My Izzy girl is so cute! Such a ham! And ditto to everyone else's comments about seeing a well-rested Aliy and happy pups. Love watching you guys and hope I catch Allen in the morning.

  • Awesome photos & comments about each of the dogs. They are each special in their own right. And Quito is the queen. Mismo wants his butt scratched just like Biscuit. The picture of Nacho napping is so cute. Ditto to everyone's comments about Aliy looking so rested.

  • Seriously – LOL in the Clyde-Mac dialogue. Mac is the MAN, at least as long as Nacho or Biscuit aren't around.

Reading through the comments, I think you are all such very nice people.

  • Just saw this great post this AM. What a great way to start my day! And I have to agree with Linda Toth…It's been as enjoyable to see everyone else's comments and love for SPK. I think we've found some new friends among each other.

  • So great seeing the dogs! Queen Quito looking so sweet at us. Hey, let Mac know he is the man…Big Mac. The dog lot at Nome is a wonderland kind of place. Thanks for sharing.

  • Nacho sleeping? Wondered whether he ever did. I guess after 2000 miles in about a month he deserves a rest. Way to go big guy, and all the SPK champs on a great race.
