We sent Allen, Quito and Scout, Izzy and Chica, Schmoe and Sissy, Mac and Waylon, Outlaw and Chemo, Nacho and Scooter, and Willie and Clyde into the night, right on time at 9.18pm. They all looked happy and healthy and were excited to head down the trail.

Phew – we are happy to get them off safely but looking forward to seeing them again in Circle – some 225-odd miles from Dawson. The teams have a compulsory stop in Eagle but in the winter, it is not on the road system so the next time we can catch up with them is Circle City.

We’re going to sleep now. Will tear down camp in the morning then start the trek back to Two Rivers where we will deploy a handler team up to Circle.

  • Quite an ordeal for you handlers!!!
Glad that Allen and the stars on the Black Team are rested and safely on their way! Best of luck and prayers to them!
And you handlers, you deserve a big congratulations for your hard work and dedication and love that you pour into the race, and that includes Aliy! She's handling like the best of them and she just completed a 300 mile tought race!
    Safe travels to all!!!

  • The title reveals when you grew up! I finally got it this morning.
Hope Allen got recharged. I like the YQ video of Allen leaving Dawson. At the end someone marveled at how Allen didn't need a snow hook.
If you get a chance, could you explain why they changed the break to 24 hours? I would think this totally changes the strategy.
    Go Dawgs!

  • I'm happy to hear the handlers finally had sleep penciled in on their schedule. I hope you all slept well.

It appears the team of "15" made great time last night, got a little shut eye, and are back on the move.
    Big hill to climb!

May the force be with you, and Sissy's super power stache, and flux capacitor Quito, and turbo boost Chica, and super charged Nacho….and all the other amazing secret arsenal of SPK.

  • Thanks again for the dog team list. I am assuming the list was from leaders to swing to team to wheel? Thanks also for listing blood line on your dog bios. Quito, Chica, and Venus seem to pass on the genes well.

  • Yay Allen and dogs!!! Ok I admit it, I am so in love with Quito. I have only been following along for the last couple of years from here in New Hampshire. I was immediately drawn to rooting for Aliy and now Allen. I root for Quito every year now. Safe travels to them 🙂
