Moira is sending photos of the Red Team members via iPhone from Nome.

I’ll post them as I get them!

First we have Willie, posing for the camera — and probably waiting for more snacks! — from his comfy bed in the dog yard.

All the dogs have their own “half-crate” filled with straw, a fleece blanket and all the food, snacks and pampering they could possibly want!

Quito — who ran another magnificent race — has probably had more than enough of the paparazzi for a while and has called it a night!

Sweet dreams Quito!

  • Willie is thinking, "nice like Dawson, I just ran to a great spa, with wonder steaks."

  • WOW! JUST WOW! What an incredible race this year. So inspiring to watch from afar. Can't wait to hear Aliy's and Allen's perspectives on the trail conditions and the challenges and how the dogs reacted! Just fantastic. Simply fantastic.

  • Wow what a fantastic ending to the greatest race on earth. Well done Willie and Quito & all the rest of the team. So proud of all of you. Aliy, dogs, crew, family supporters. Well done everyone.

  • Congratulations to you Aliy the Red Team and all your ground backers and supporters. Thank You to all for helping keep this race live and interactive, I appreciate it. You are all great folks and thanks for the way to thought of Aliy and the Red Team on the trail and us out here at the same time, Thank You. Ron in AZ. ragodfrey@yahoo.com

  • Aliy and pups, you are ALL STARS!!!!
What a magnificent race!!!!Oh Willie, how can somebody so adorable be such a fine athlete at the same time????
Quito, you are simply a TREASURE!!! Sleep well sweetie!
And, the rest of the team are like angels of the trail!
I love you ALL so very much!

  • Awesome race and bizarre finish but Aliy, you are my heroine and you did a fantastic race. Second fastest time ever and much more. When I was following last night's brutal wind etc and learned you were in Safety I just prayed you and the dogs would be okay–that was all that mattered at that point. That prayer was answered and so there is always next time. God bless you and those great dogs!!!

  • Love these adorable photos of the superstar SPK dogs getting tucked in after their fabulous performance. Such a cutie, that Willie. Quito the old pro, knows a good straw bed when she sees it and does her job well by settling in and resting like she's meant to do. Cheers to Aliy, the dogs, Zirkle/Moore family members and ALL the rest of the fine SPK support crew. A great group of folks that never ceases to amaze me.
