Much of the U.S. has had a late arrival of Spring/Summer and Interior Alaska is no exception. Low temperature records and late snow storms seem to be the norm. At the kennel, we had a light dusting of fresh snow last night – compared with 4 to 6 inches in the eastern interior of the state or perhaps feet in the Denali area – we got off easy!

The dogs are still dressed in their winter coats. Often we find them laying curled up on the frozen ground – insulated by their thick husky parkas. In late afternoon, when the sun shines at its peak, a dog might lounge around on the roof of his or her house. Basking in the cool sunshine.

  • GREAT PICTURE _ THANKS SO MUCH!
Love how you've laid out the plot plan for doggie neighborhoods!

    1. ESTATES: Large lot zoning in the back for the exclusive group who like solitude
    2. FREE THINKERS: Cluster development up front with spiffy landscaping, preserving a pocket of trees in the middle
    3. COMMUTERS: Suburban look is largest part, with more conventional subdivision – houses lined up, street pattern designed by an engineer. Close to shopping and entertainment.

  • Yes, we need another race….Im having withdrawals! Dog yard looks great! Spring IS slow to come…..temps went down into the 20s in the Adirondacks this week with a dusting of snow…didn't seem much like mid May at all! But Id rather have snow and cold than tornados!! Yikes! Im ready for summer….and Puppy Time at SP Kennel!

  • Wow, snow for you & 90 degrees here! Great looking dog yard. Is it time for puppies??

  • Your temp today(56 feels like) is like our 90 degrees! What a change from Sat.

  • The pups look so comfy and relaxed!!! Good for them, they earned a good break! Although, I think that some of them are missing the excitement of the race season! God bless them!
