Sunrise on the Yukon River is a pretty special sight. This video shows how crisp the morning was as the sled bag is frosty white and so is Biscuit’s back (in wheel on the right.)
Aliy hadn’t been taking videos, so as she begins to talk to the camera many of the dogs look back and wonder, “Who the heck is she talking to now?” She notices this immediately and that’s the reason for the many “Come on dogs!” that you hear. She needs to reassure the dogs that she is still focused and part of the team even though she “talking to someone else”.
I'm proud to say that after my few days mushing in ANWR with her as my wheel dog, I can now identify Bonita by her rear end. I'm pretty sure that's her next to Biscuit walking like she's in high heel pumps. Gosh, that was fun!

Depending on our mood, we call Bonita either the "leggy supermodel" of the kennel… or simply "Barbie Dog"…
No ill reflection on her… She's a great dog… She is truly the daughter of Venus (look it up!) in more ways than one… She just got all the "prissy" genes!
It may amuse you to know that on a previous ANWR trip, one of the guests was hooking up his team and put Bonita in lead!… Those of us in the know smiled and shook our heads… Good thing his co-leader was Dingle!
Seriously… Is it great for all of us to know these dogs so well, or what?!?!?

Just fascinated by these video's and am wondering what the rules are for communications of the Mushers while on the trail. The technology is there to talk to a central command center to know where your competitors are. I suppose this would take a lot out of the idea of being out on the trail. For safety sake however, i think something like this would be essential.
