A mushers meeting has been held at Meiers Lake Lodge and we were informed by the race marshall that they can see no practical and safe way of resuming this race. All mushers, handlers, dogs and trucks are now headed home. Our team is planning to sleep four hours before driving back home.

Thanks for following the SP Kennel teams in this race and we look forward to bringing you coverage of our next race.

  • I'm disappointed but have no doubt this is the best decision for all concerned. Thanks for the superb coverage & I'll be following next time! Get home safely.

  • Just started reading this blog and I'm already attached and SO SORRY the race had to be cancelled! I was enjoying following it! We had the Cache Valley K9 Challenge cancelled due to LACK of snow and it made me sad.

LOVE following your sled dog adventures! I've been slowly putting a little ragtag team together for NEXT winter, when we HOPEFULLY get more snow!

  • Bummer for all involved with the race. Looking forward to hearing from your mushers about their perspective of the race and to your next race. Thanks for the updates – you all work so hard and it shows. People referred to SPKennel on the CB 300 Facebook page.

  • I saw Big Red as I passed Meiers Lake on my way home and almost stopped. Then I thought, "I will be in the way and what sane musher would want to deal with a kennel groupie just about now?" .. and I really wanted to be home before dark.

Hope your drive this year was uneventful.
