Well I just spent a very worried morning, trying to figure out why Allen was still in Eagle Island. My phone wasn’t picking up the GPS tracker and I didn’t know where he was. He is moving again! Yeah!!!! They still don’t have him out of Eagle Island on the standings, but he is over half way to Kaltag.

Aliy is about 30 miles out of Unalakleet, slow and steady. She still has all 11 dogs. Bridgett and Scotty are out in Unalakleet waiting for her to get there. Should get some good information later this evening.

John Baker has made his move. He is about 25 miles ahead of the rest of the pack in Unalakleet and on trails very much like home. If he continues to pull ahead, there will be a party in every village up and down the coast.

  • Worry not! There are many cabins that both dad and Aliy could rest at along these next stretches of trail. Why would they do that, because they might want to rest during the day. SO if they "stop" worry not, they will stop rest, hydrate and feed the dogs until the heat of the day passes. More to come form Unk as soon as I get to see our mushers

  • Yes, thank you! log 312 had Aliy mixed up with Michelle… took a bit to fix it… gps was right/standings wrong. They mixed her up one other year too.

  • Kaz – was that Scotty in the Insider Unalakleet video for the Gold Coast Award for John Baker? Looked like him and sure sounded like an Arkansas accent and I think I saw Bridgett in the background. If so, how cool for them to be there to witness John getting that award. He seems to be quite inspirational for Native mushers.

  • I am actually hoping she doesn't stay long in Unalakleet. She is edging toward Top 10 really nicely and her times are posting much faster … Guess we will just have to wait and see.

And I notice Allen is really picking up now. Very, very nice.
