If my sleepy brain has this figured out correctly, Allen passed 24 teams on his run to Chistochina. As Bridgett said, “He FLEW.” He came into the checkpoint at 8:24 pm AST very pleased with his dogs and his run. All three teams will now be resting before their push towards Glennallen. It will be exciting to see what happens tomorrow as people begin to do their mandatory rests. The times will be leveled out from the two minute start times. Aliy’s stop will be 8 hours plus 1 hour & 40 minutes since she started in the 2 slot. Allen’s will be 8 hours plus 2 minutes since he started in the 50th position. (Bridgett’s will be a total of 9 hours & 32 minutes.)

  • Ryne, I assume you are doing the updates. We are glued to our computer but it helps to have your comments. Don't forget to get some sleep. Deb Davis Ketchikan

  • can someone explain to me how it works when they level out the start times? Not really sure how that works, how they "level" it out, and which starting position is most advantageous.
thanks from a new race follower…

  • No, Ryne is working her bum off handling for Aliy. Handling for this race is as hard as running it. VERY little sleep. This is Kaz, Aliy's sister.

  • As for the time correction for the start times, the best starts are towards the front because the trail is better (not so many teams over it yet) and you get more rest at you longest rest (that's your mandatory rest). The further back you are the more difficult it is because of trail conditions, less rest on the trail and the need to pass so many other teams. Allen has a hard route in front of him, but he is handling it very well!!!!
