  • aren't you a kind of roughly petting her?
this looks as if you do not give much space to her.

wonder whether she would interact with you differently if you gave her more space.

  • "Roughly petting"…. hummm. Let me watch it again.

That's interesting. That is how I interact with my dogs. I am touching, rubbing, feeling them all the time. I feel for soreness and bumps – like when you rub a friend's shoulders down after he spent the last two hours cutting firewood. The dogs are used to me harnessing them, bootying them, putting on jackets, rubbing their muscles, massaging them …. we are pretty connected. I'll go as far as saying that they expect that from me.

Look at minute 1:15 of the video – where I am rubbing down her back. When I take my hand away she wants more and by minute 1:21 she has scooted her butt next to me. She wags her tail and glances at me twice asking "Can I have some more???"

But Rose is a different dog from others in the team. Maybe my petting seems rough because she doesn't jump up on me, run over to me or act "pushy" in any way. But, she enjoys "my affections" just like the rest of them.

If you are interested in comparing dogs, go to the "Dogs Page" and click on Tatfish. He has a "Meet the Dogs video." I pet him in about the same manner, however … it "looks" a little different, doesn't it??

  • Each and every dog is different.
Some dogs love tenderness and some love toughness.
SP Kennel knows each and every dog and what they need and love.
This is what makes SP Kennel such a great kennel.
Without understanding, there is no respect.
